The time of runners tied to felt boots, proudly called skates, has long passed. New technologies are actively used in all sports. Not only the skill of athletes is being improved, but also their equipment. In particular, thanks to technology such as thermoforming, the time it takes for an athlete to run in new skates has been significantly reduced.
It is necessary
- - skates with thermoforming technologies;
- - convection oven or hair dryer with the ability to maintain the temperature at 80-90 degrees Celsius;
- - services of a master in thermoforming.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, it should be noted that not all modern skate models can be thermoformed. Read the manufacturer's recommendations carefully. If you do not find the corresponding mark on the box (for example, Heat Moldable Fit System), you can refer to the manufacturer's website. It is better not to rely on the opinion of the shop assistants or Lenochka's mother from the next doorway.
Step 2
Thermoforming will not help increase or decrease the space inside the shoe. She can only change him. For example, a shoe presses on a protruding bone on the foot, after the skates "warm up", perhaps the feeling of discomfort will disappear. The boot will adapt exactly to your foot, taking into account the peculiarities of its shape.
Step 3
Most skate manufacturers agree that even if all the conditions for correct thermoforming are met, this procedure can be performed no more than 5 times. Otherwise, the boot will lose the necessary rigidity, and this is fraught with serious injuries on the ice.
Step 4
Thermoforming of skate shoes is a short (3-5 minutes) uniform heating in a special convection oven at a constant temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius. Some masters use industrial hair dryers for heating. During this time, the inner layer of the boot, which consists of a special gel, softens. As it cools, it becomes hard enough again to keep its shape.
Step 5
After the master has heated the boots in a special stove or hairdryer, carefully put them on your feet and lace them up, as you usually do for training on ice. Be careful - the lace hooks may be too hot. To avoid burns, it is also not recommended to wear hot skates on bare feet. Sit down and wait for the skates to cool down and take the shape of your legs. Some masters recommend skating at this time. It is very important not to move your foot while the gel is cooling. Otherwise, thermoforming may fail and you will not get the expected result.
Step 6
In principle, if you have the technical ability to withstand all the conditions for heating the boots, you can try to thermoform yourself. But it is still better to turn to professionals, because in case of uneven heating or excessively high temperature, the boot may be damaged. And this case cannot be recognized as a warranty.
