Snowboarding from the snowy slopes can bring you many pleasant moments. But only after performing some dizzying tricks, to your displeasure, you may find that a noticeable delamination has appeared on the lacquered lid of your favorite board. If there is no workshop nearby, you can successfully repair the sports equipment yourself.
It is necessary
Epoxy glue, knife, clamps (2-3 pieces), wood pads, acetone or gasoline for degreasing surfaces, file, sandpaper, rubber gloves
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the snowboard to determine the type of problem. The most common working defect is the formation of a gap between the edge and the cover (this usually occurs after the edge hits a rigid obstacle). If the gap is not eliminated, moisture will enter the structure, which, expanding in the cold, will further aggravate the situation.
Step 2
Open the lid of the snowboard where the peeling has occurred. Draw a pencil around the area to be repaired. Now use a sharp knife to cut out the desired section of the lid, being careful not to touch the core. Using a sharp tool (screwdriver), pry off the cover and separate it from the core.
Step 3
If the core is not broken, proceed to glue the cut-out area. Use a knife to scratch the lid along the board along the edges of the delamination. Now, at a short distance from the damaged area, fix the clamp so that when the crack is filled with glue, the delamination does not go further.
Step 4
Prepare epoxy adhesive. To give the composition plasticity, add a plasticizer (dibutyl phthalate) to it. Using a hacksaw for metal or a file, cut metal filings from an unnecessary piece of metal and add them to the glue mass. Degrease the bonding area with acetone or gasoline and dry thoroughly.
Step 5
Pour epoxy into the crack, pushing it as far as possible. Remove excess with a swab soaked in solvent.
Step 6
Place a piece of plastic bag in place of gluing, place wooden spacers on both sides of it and clamp it with a clamp. The polyethylene will allow you to later detach the pad from the board, otherwise it may stick.
Step 7
After the adhesive has hardened in the damaged area above the edging, gouge out a part of the broken core. Clamp the snowboard on both sides to avoid delamination along the length of the board.
Step 8
Fill the void with glue and insert a suitable wooden insert. Remove excess glue and clamp this area with a clamp.
Step 9
Now insert the piece of the snowboard cover cut out at the very beginning into place. Degrease the surfaces, dry them, apply glue, place the cover exactly in place and finally clamp the entire repair area with clamps.
Step 10
When the glue has hardened, sand the surface of the board with a fine-cut file and then sandpaper. To completely hide any traces of repairs, apply a color decal or airbrush the bonding area.
