Owners of old ski boot bindings (the so-called ISG standard) know that this is the weakest part in skiing. Sometimes you have to throw away skis in good condition just because of the bindings. The ability to properly and efficiently repair the mount would save money on buying new skis and not throw away old skis that are quite suitable for use. Simply transferring the bindings to a new ski point usually does not help and looses out just as quickly.
It is necessary
- - cross screwdriver;
- - screws for a cross, the length of which does not exceed the thickness of the ski, and the diameter is larger than the old ones;
- - Super glue.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, if the fastener has not yet come off completely, it must be carefully unscrewed, being careful not to damage the remnants of the thread and the seat.
Step 2
Next, you need to pick up new screws. The screws must be of such length that they do not pierce the ski through when screwing in. Those. you need to choose a size similar to the one already set. It is important that the diameter of the new screw is larger than that of the one already installed. Also, it is imperative that the hat be countersunk and cross-shaped (a large load can be applied to the cross slot without the screwdriver slipping through when screwing in).
Step 3
Now you need to prepare the ski seat. Remove dirt from the place where the old mount was installed. Examine the holes left by the screws. If you had time to do the repairs before the fastener turned out, then you can use the old holes. If not, the ski binding must be moved back (closer to the blunt end of the ski) 1 cm for each point.
Step 4
If you are restoring an old seat, then you need to pour superglue into the cleaned holes from the screws and let it dry. If you moved the mount, then first you need to install new screws at a new point, and then unscrew and fill these holes with glue and also wait for drying (about 2-3 hours).
Step 5
Next, install the mounts in the same way as you would with the new mounts. The only difference is that the screws must also be generously moistened with superglue and screwed in while the glue is still wet.
Step 6
Tighten the screws as far as they will go. Soak 12 hours or more and the task is complete. This mounting method is much more secure than the standard one! I managed to restore old skis with this method for myself and my wife three years ago, and so far the mounts have not even loosened.
