On the night of January 6, Moscow time, the main match of the year for hockey players under 20 years old took place in Toronto. The final meeting of the World Cup brought together the youth teams of Russia and Canada.
The first period of the final match began depressingly for the Russian team. Less than three minutes of the game, the Canadians twice upset our goalkeeper. Decler (23rd second) and Paul distinguished themselves (the time was 2:32 on the scoreboard). After the goals were scored, the Canadians did not weaken their onslaught on the gates of the Russian hockey players, but the overseas players did not succeed in distinguishing themselves in the first period. The Russian national team, on the contrary, was able to play one goal in the 10th minute. Defender Yudin distinguished himself.
In the second period, the Russians started very actively, but on the 26th minute, Mac David took advantage of the mistake of our players on the shift and, jumping out one on one, sent the third puck into the goal of the Russian national team. Then the Canadians were able to score twice more, bringing the score to the crushing one - 5: 1. Domi (28th minute) and Reinhart (33rd minute) distinguished themselves. After such a breakthrough of the Canadian national team, the Russians showed a real fighting character, for which Valery Bragin's wards should be deeply grateful. At the end of the period, our hockey players returned to the game, scoring three goals. The goals were scored by Barbashev, Tolchinsky and Goldobin. The second and third goals of the Russian national team were separated by only 32 seconds (this happened in the 35th minute of the match). Already at the 38th minute of the meeting, Russian hockey players reduced the gap to a minimum. The second segment of the match ended with a score of 5: 4 in favor of the Canadian national team.
In the third period, the Russians rushed to recoup, but the strength was no longer enough. The meeting ended with the advantage of the hosts of the World Cup, which allowed the youth team Canada to become the winner of the 2015 MFM.
The final performance of the Russian national team can be described as successful. Despite the defeat in the final, the Russian national team showed skill and character. The most appropriate definition of the performance of the national team of Valery Bragin can be called the words of the outstanding hockey player of our time, Pavel Datsyuk, who commented on the end of the 2015 MFM: “We are proud of our youth hockey team !!!”.
