On the night from July 1 to July 2, the 14th European Football Championship ended with a game at the Olimpiyskiy stadium in Kiev. To identify the best team on the continent, 31 matches were played at Euro 2012, and the champion was exactly the team that most of the fans and experts pointed out before the start of the tournament. Now the Spanish national team is the current holder of both the highest football titles on the planet - World Champion and European Champion.

The Spanish national team began the group stage of Euro 2012 with a game with the same team with which it was to hold the last championship meeting - with the Italian team. That game ended in a draw - on June 10 in Gdansk, the teams exchanged goals for three minutes in the second half and went to the final, each with their own path, prescribed for them by the tournament grid of the championship. The Spaniards in the two remaining games of the first stage did not give any more points to their opponents, and took first place in Group C.

In the quarterfinal game, the “red fury” knocked out its eastern neighbors, the French national team, from the tournament, beating it with a score of 2: 0. The next step on the way to the championship was given to the Spanish footballers the most difficult - in the semifinals they had to play with their western neighbor, the Portuguese national team. This game was the only one in the championship in which it was necessary to resort to a series of penalties to determine the winner. But football roulette showed that now the Spaniards are not only strong in football, but also more successful than any other team in this tournament - they won 4: 2.

The final game with the Italian national team did not become a battle at all - the forces were too unequal. The Spaniards passed the opponent's defense relatively easily due to accurate passes in fairly fast attacks, but did not strive to constantly play at high speeds. They were quite confident in their ability to contain the positional siege of the Italians, which they demonstrated in the first half between two goals scored. In the second half of the game, the already strong team played up fortune again - the Italians were forced to play in the minority for more than half an hour due to an injury of one of the players. Spain finished the main match of Euro 2012 with a crushing score of 4: 0 and won the title of European champion for the third time in its history.
