The Spengler Cup is the oldest ice hockey club tournament in Europe. This competition is held annually in the Swiss city of Davos on New Year's Eve.
In the last days of the outgoing 2014, the next Spengler Cup took place in Davos. Six teams took part in the tournament, three of which represent the KHL, two - the Swiss championship. The last participant in the tournament was the Canadian national team, made up of hockey players of this nationality, playing in Europe or in the minor hockey leagues of Canada.
The Russian hockey club Salavat Yulaev (Ufa) and the Swiss team Geneva Servette (Geneva) made their way to the 2014 Spengler Cup final. The decisive match took place in the afternoon of December 31st.
The final result of the final match in Davos cannot please the Russian fan. The Ufa team lost “dry” to “Servette” (0: 3). The first period of the meeting was ineffective. The goals against Salavat Yulaev were scored in the second and third periods of the match. So, in the second segment of the game Ufa conceded twice in the minority. The Swiss were scored by Jacqueme (23 minutes) and Rubin (35 minutes). In the final twenty minutes, Payette set the final score on the scoreboard (50 minutes).
It should be noted that the Swiss "Servette" won the Spengler Cup for the second time in a row.
