Artificial heart massage is a system of measures to restore blood circulation in a person after cardiac arrest. Direct massage is performed only with surgery. And an indirect heart massage, subject to some simple rules and with the possession of certain skills, can be done by everyone.

Instructions

Step 1

Providing first aid to an unconscious person includes, first of all, artificial respiration. But this measure alone is not enough. It should also be remembered about the activity of the heart and about the pulse, which is the main sign of the vital activity of the body.

Step 2

The heart can stop in the event of a directed blow to it, as a result of drowning, poisoning, or electric shock. Some heart conditions can also be accompanied by cardiac arrest. Possible causes of cardiac arrest include burn injuries, hypothermia, or heatstroke.

Step 3

When the heart stops, there is a violation of blood circulation, up to its complete cessation. The result is the onset of the so-called clinical death. Only heart massage can save a person in such a situation.

Step 4

The activity of the heart consists in its periodic compression and relaxation. For this reason, after cardiac arrest, it is required to restore the contraction and expansion of the heart through external intervention.

Step 5

To begin with, a person must be laid on a hard surface. This could be a ground surface or a table. This is followed by rhythmic movements, with a frequency of about sixty times a minute, squeeze the sternum in the area where the heart is located. This is the lower left half of the chest.

Step 6

Pressing is usually done using the inside of the left wrist. Additional pressure is achieved by placing the palm of the right hand on the left hand. At the same time, through the sternum, the pressing force spreads to the heart. The pressure should be such that the sternum moves about five centimeters towards the spine.

Step 7

The described actions lead to the contraction of the heart when pressed and to its relaxation at the moment of cessation of pressure. After a certain time, the heart, as a rule, begins to work on its own, without outside interference.

Step 8

It must be remembered that chest compressions are an effective resuscitation measure with simultaneous artificial respiration. This is due to the fact that cardiac arrest leads to cessation of breathing. The technology of action is as follows: after fifteen pressures on the chest, three artificial breaths follow.

Step 9

Carrying out a heart massage requires some experience, so it is advisable to use it only if it is clearly necessary.
