The front derailleur is a device that provides gear shifting on a so-called bicycle system (or on the carriage axis). This derailleur is often much more convenient to use than the rear derailleur, as the shifting is faster and the range is varied over a wider range. Bicycle front derailleur repairs or adjustments are often required early in the season or when equipment is worn out.
Instructions
Step 1
Check how the switch is installed on the frame. The switch frame must be parallel to the largest star in the system. The position of the chain on the top sprocket in relation to the frame should be approximately 1/3 of the total frame height.
Step 2
Loosen the derailleur cable completely by unscrewing the locking bolt.
Step 3
Begin adjusting the derailleur in the gear where the derailleur returns its main spring. In this position (most often it corresponds to the first gear), rotate the adjusting screw "L" so that when pedaling in the range of gears 1-1 / 1-5, there is no grinding sound.
Step 4
Then pull on the derailleur cable. Do not forget that the shifter on the handlebars must be switched to the position corresponding to the adjustable position. Most often this will be the very first transmission.
Step 5
After the cable is tensioned, switch the shifter to position 2. In this position, the frame should not cling to the chain at ranges 2-1 / 2-6. If the chain still clings to the frame, then use the fine adjustment on the shifter. This will move the frame position by 1-2 mm without unscrewing the cable bolt.
Step 6
Now you need to adjust the upper point of the switch. Shift the shifter to position 3. In this position, check that the frame does not snag in the ranges 3-3 / 3-9. Use the last adjusting screw "H" to control the position.
