In billiards, not only skill is important. A competent player must also have the ability to correctly select inventory. And the main tool when playing billiards, of course, is a cue. However, choosing a cue is not so difficult, being familiar with some of the tricks of this case.
Instructions
Step 1
The first characteristic of a cue is its length. Its standard value is 155-165 cm. However, it can vary in a wider range, because the heights and lengths of hands and players are different. The classic and tried-and-true method of lengthwise cue selection is as follows: place the cue on the bumper in front of you. Its sticker should be just above your chin.
Step 2
Tool weight. The cue is generally 2, 5 - 3 times heavier than the ball. That is, it should weigh somewhere between 500-700 grams.
Step 3
Cue balance is a very important characteristic. For a standard cue, mounted on a finger or an edge of the hand, the distance from the bumper to the center of balance is 35-45 cm. Although, depending on the skill of the player, the variety of the game and other factors, the balance of the cue can be shifted.
Step 4
The geometry of the described tool. The diameters in one or another part of the cue can be selected based on the manufacturer's preferences. But the generally accepted cue diameter at the base is 27-30 mm. The size of the sticker is up to the player to decide. Beginners get by with a sticker diameter of 12-12.5 mm, and professionals often choose a larger diameter.
Step 5
The cue must be perfectly flat. This is verified in several ways. Take the cue in your hands, as if aiming with a gun, and then rotate the tool around the longitudinal axis. It can also be rolled on the table surface. Composite cues need to be rolled not only assembled, but also each of their parts separately. Also pay attention to the quality of the connections. The joints in the twists should not have any glue residues, no cracks or gaps.
