The bike chain should be lubricated with a low viscosity grease with good abrasion resistance. Your best bet is WD-40 or an equivalent penetrating lubricant. And even though WD-40 and its analogs are not quite a lubricant in a technical sense, it is precisely such compositions that are optimal for penetrating the joints and chain links, which means they wash away dirt in the best way and do not leave a dirty mark. Of course, specialized lubricants can be used, but they are usually very expensive.
Step 2
The bike cassette does not need regular lubrication, but it does need to be cleaned periodically. For this cleaning, it will be helpful to apply some kind of grease, such as lithium grease, to the cassette, or also to spill all the WD-40 stars.
Step 3
Bicycle derailleurs do not need lubrication, but it will be helpful to periodically lubricate the front and rear derailleur pivots. In addition, the rear derailleur rollers and bearings of these rollers require regular lubrication. Any penetrating lubricant can be used.
Step 4
Modern bike hubs and bottom bracket do not require regular lubrication. collected using grease. However, when servicing bushings or carriages and disassembling them, do not be too lazy to renew the oil layer. To do this, wipe the disassembled parts and apply a new layer of Litol or SHRUS greases to them. There are special lubricants, but they will also hurt your wallet.
Step 5
The steering column does not require regular lubrication and is assembled with grease. Proceed with the steering column in the same way as the bushings.
Step 6
The bicycle ratchet is coated with liquid grease. If the grease is too thick, the ratchet petals will sink and the part can be damaged. In addition, do not forget that initially the ratchet is planted with grease and by flushing the parts with liquid penetrating grease, you will also rinse the ratchet bearings. Accordingly, they will need to be regularly smeared. Therefore, do not rush to smear this part and do it only when really necessary.
Step 7
During installation, bike cables can be lubricated with silicone grease or graphite grease.
Step 8
The fork legs and shock stem require constant lubrication with a liquid silicone grease.
