The 2015-2016 KHL season is rapidly coming to an end. The time has come for decisive battles for the main hockey trophy in Europe - the Gagarin Cup. The four best KHL clubs in 2015-2016 will face off in conference finals.
Final of the conference West
In the Western Conference of the KHL, two clubs were determined, which made up the final pair of confrontations for the right to enter the decisive stage of the fight for the Gagarin Cup. Hockey fans will find a real sports feast in the form of a confrontation between the two capitals of Russia. As in the previous season, CSKA and SKA will meet in the West. “CSKA” from Moscow against “CSKA” from St. Petersburg: this pair gave the audience a tremendous intrigue and alignment last season.
The first meeting between CSKA and SKA will take place in Moscow on March 22nd (as well as the second confrontation on the 24th). The Muscovites have the advantage of their site, but this does not make the team of Alexander Radulov a clear favorite in the series.
The return two matches in the Northern capital are scheduled for March 26th and 28th. Experts believe that this series is unlikely to end in four matches, so the next meetings according to the regulations (if they are needed to determine the winner) will be held in the same day.
Finals of the Eastern Conference
In the East, hockey fans will face an equally interesting confrontation between the two giants. Magnitogorsk “Metallurg” will meet with the Ufa “Salavat Yulaev”. Ufa hockey players heroically in the previous two series managed to overcome Ak Bars and Avangard, and in both confrontations, the Yulaevites needed all seven games to win.
The first meeting of the Eastern Conference Final will take place in the Chelyabinsk Region on March 23rd. A day later, a second game between the two clubs. Hockey fans from Bashkiria were able to see their favorite team at home on the 27th and 29th.
As in the West, the duel between Magnitogorsk and Ufa is likely to take more than four matches.
