The Olympic Games are the most significant and large-scale sports competitions. Their holding is associated not only with very high costs, but also with organizational difficulties, because a great many spectators come to the games from all over the world. They all need to be explained how to get to the places of competitions and the main local attractions, answer questions that arise, help in the prompt resolution of possible misunderstandings, claims, conflict situations, etc. Therefore, the organizers of the Olympics simply cannot do without the help of volunteers.

The next Olympic Games will take place in early 2014 in the Russian city of Sochi. And on February 7 of this year, applications have already begun from all Russian citizens who wish to become volunteers for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is estimated that about 25,000 volunteers will be required to successfully complete them. Of course, very high requirements are imposed on them, because each such volunteer is a kind of person, a “visiting card” of the country. How clear and conscientious his work will be and how polite and benevolent his behavior will be, what impression of Russia will remain with foreign guests. Therefore, 26 volunteer centers have been created throughout the country, on the basis of which the selection and training of volunteers will take place.

The selection will be very strict. A mandatory requirement for candidates is fluency in one of the foreign languages. It is not necessary that it be English, because many guests from different countries will come to Sochi. There is a job for a volunteer who knows any foreign language. In addition, he must be an erudite person, have an excellent knowledge of Russian history and the history of the region where the Olympic and Paralympic Games are held, that is, the city of Sochi. After all, the guests will probably ask him questions. Of course, a volunteer must also be sociable, polite, patient, and be able to communicate with people.

Starting from February 7, any Russian citizen wishing to become a volunteer can leave an application on the website vol.sochi2014.com. This will continue until September 2012. Mandatory requirement: the applicant must be of age, or before the start of the Olympics he must be 18 years old, otherwise the application will be rejected.
