Nicknames have appeared in sports for a long time. Many fans and football fans throughout Russia are interested in the question: why are the Moscow CSKA team called horses, and their fans are called horses?
CSKA Moscow considers 1911 to be the time of its formation, when the team held its first match on August 27. True, then the club bore a completely different name, the Society of Ski Lovers. In the summer, skiers had nothing to do, and they got into football.
Over the years, CSKA changed its name several times, until the final modern version came out in 1960. Today it is one of the oldest football clubs.

Where did CSKA get the nickname horses?
There are many different versions of the appearance of this nickname. But the following version looks the most plausible.
In 1974, the CSKA team moved to a new stadium on Peschanaya Street in Moscow. Before that, the famous Moscow stables and the hippodrome were located on its territory. Over its long history, this place has become associated with horses among the indigenous people. Therefore, when the team held its first official meeting at the new stadium, the nickname horses was attached to it, and the stadium itself began to be called the stable.
Other versions according to which CSKA horses
Of course, there are also older versions of the appearance of this nickname. According to one of them, the society to which the team belonged was engaged in educating not only football players, but also raising horses.
Younger fans of the club will say that it was they who came up with the nickname for the CSKA players, and to some extent they will be right. In the early 90s of the 20th century, the game of the army team was not varied. The footballers took to the field and began to plow in the truest sense of the word. They gave themselves up to the game until the very last minute and fought on every part of the field. Therefore, they began to be compared to workhorses. And then a historical version appeared, which helped to strengthen this nickname.
And finally, the oldest version of why CSKA is called horses. After its formation, the club began to hold matches and train at the site of the former location of the stables of the Cuirassier regiment.

Now all the matches of the Moscow team cannot be imagined without their mascot - the horse. When it was created, the club's management supported numerous requests from army fans. At the same time, the fans themselves are not offended that they are also called horses. Over time, another tradition has appeared, according to which, before the start of home games, all fans launch inflatable horses into the sky.
There is no image of this animal on the CSKA emblem yet, but most likely, over time, it will appear.
Now CSKA football players and fans are used to this nickname and no longer take offense at it. But at first, many players considered him very offensive, and even expressed their dissatisfaction. But for the emergence of this nickname, fans should be grateful. This gave a new round in the development of the club.
When in the late 80s the team was in the shadow of the Moscow Spartak team, its game caused constant ridicule. There are very few technical players who were unable to believe in themselves. And then the fans began to call their favorites horses again. This gave them confidence and the team's results immediately went up. And now CSKA has become one of the most popular clubs in Russia and is constantly claiming the championship. Last season, the army team, however, moved to a new modern stadium, but the nickname horses will now forever remain with the club.
