Officially, athletics includes 5 sports disciplines, but running is the most popular among them. Jumping, all-around and pusher sports are relatively rarely practiced by amateurs. Recently, race walking is gaining popularity.
Instructions
Step 1
The foundation of athletics is running. Jogging can be done in open stadiums, arenas, on footpaths, on rough terrain, and even on exercise machines. In general, suitable training conditions can be found almost everywhere. There are also more than enough amateur competitions in which you can participate "for yourself" - interschool and interuniversity races, city and regional competitions, various competitions timed to some sports holiday.
Step 2
Physical fitness alone is not enough to excel at running. Tactical knowledge is also needed: you can run the entire distance behind the backs of rivals, and at the finish line make a powerful leap, or fight for leadership and lead the participants from the very start. Usually, the coach gives tactical advice, based on the individual characteristics of the ward, he also teaches how to correctly distribute forces over the entire distance.
Step 3
It should also be understood that the method of training for short distances is very different from the method of training for long distances, so the athlete has to choose a specialization. Just as in any sport, a person involved in time realizes whether he will remain an amateur or try to become a professional. Professional sports require more training time and energy, more investments in proper nutrition, equipment and travel to competitions.
Step 4
If the choice is between jumping, hurdling, walking, throwing or all-around, you should be guided not only by personal preferences, but also by the opinion of the coach, as well as physical data. Jumping, for example, is more suitable for long-legged and tall people. Lean and short track and field athletes are more likely to achieve success in running at medium and short distances. Well-developed musculature is a prerequisite for the choice of pushing and throwing disciplines. For fans of team disciplines in athletics, there are relay races and orienteering competitions.
Step 5
In steeplechase, the length of the distance was set at 110 m, and the height of the hurdles was 106.7 cm. For women, the distance was reduced to 100 m, and the height of the barriers was reduced to 84 cm. The vast majority of athletes who achieved high results in hurdles were tall people. with high speed, excellent flexibility and coordination of movements. There is also a 400m hurdle race, which requires not only speed but also endurance from the athlete. And also a stepple chase - a 3 km run with obstacles.
