The ability to make feints by a player largely determines the success of the game of the entire team. Feints are not just deceiving moves, they are timely tactical decisions that require instant reaction and flawless footwork.
Instructions
Step 1
Evaluate your position on the court at every moment of the game. The type of feint depends on whether you are currently in possession of the ball, where the ball is located, on your playing style and ability to make passes and throws and, of course, on the abilities of your teammates and opponents.
Step 2
To work out all the feints to automatism, train alone or one-on-one. Some single-handed exercises are best done at home in front of a mirror (for example, tricking the body with the ball in hand).
Step 3
Perform fake movements with your legs, head and arms in motion and in place, with and without the ball. Perform feints on throwing the ball and on passing with the ball, and on catching without it.
Step 4
Practice the pivot step (walking with one foot when the other is pivot). Perform feint exercises using an obstacle (such as a chair). Perform a feint to pass or throw, standing in front of an obstacle, and then go around it to the right or left. Beat a fixed obstacle with a pivot or other trick.
Step 5
Practice your feints by catching the ball that bounced off the shield. The coach must hit the backboard with the ball, and you must catch the ball in a jump, then land, then make several feints in a row for throwing and passing and leaving from under the ring with dribbling.
Step 6
Train with another player on your team. Beat feints on the move, on the spot, after passing, dribbling, after a dash, etc. You can do these exercises with or without the ball. The coach should supervise the progress of your training.
Step 7
At the signal from the coach, start moving towards the ball, which is still in the middle of the field, trying to beat the defender with the help of feints. The defender should, meeting you with his body, not let you pick up the ball. Get hold of the ball and attack the opposite ring. First, choose a medium pace for performing such exercises, then gradually switch to a fast one.
