The Olympic Games in Sochi are rich in innovations, which even affected the awards ceremony. Now medals are awarded once a day - in the center of the Olympic Park. A special area was established there for rewarding and celebrating. The time chosen for the start of the awarding ceremony is symbolic: every day athletes rise to the podium at 20 hours 14 minutes.
As a rule, medals are awarded to the winners on the evening of the competition day or the next day. The whole ceremony is very solemn and is accompanied by an evening music concert, at which popular pop stars perform. Anyone can attend the concert. During the awarding ceremony, the winners and prize-winners will be presented with Olympic medals and flower bouquets. And the ceremony ends with the raising of the national flag and the performance of the national anthem of the winner's country.
The bouquets presented at the ceremonies consist of solidago, chrysanthemums, laurel and eucalyptus. Thus, the yellow color of solidago symbolizes the wealth of the Krasnodar Territory; green and white chrysanthemums - the Black Sea coast; laurel is a symbol of victory; and eucalyptus means the city of Sochi (this plant appeared here).
