So the Olympic Games in Sochi are over. It's always sad to leave, and the closing ceremony turned out to be very interesting and touching.
So the XXII Olympic Games in Sochi have come to their climax. It's always sad to part and say goodbye, especially when such a large-scale event takes place in your native country.
The Russian flag was brought to the Closing Ceremony by all Russian athletes who won gold medals. And 1000 children then touchingly sang the anthem of the Russian Federation. Almost every Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games begins with the awarding of marathon winners in cross-country skiing. This time, all three places in the women's race went to the Norwegian team, while the men from Russia took the podium. Therefore, at this closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, the Russian anthem was played several times.
The idea of the whole program was how the representatives of other countries see Russia. After all, our country has a rich cultural heritage, and we have something to be proud of. By the way, this time we managed to beat the moment when one of the Olympic rings did not open at the opening ceremony. The whole program was very entertaining, it showed the best traditions of Russian culture - literature, ballet, classical music of Russian composers, and even a real circus show.
In the middle of the ceremony, the Olympic flag was handed over to the next country to host the XXIII Olympic Games - Korea. The national anthem, as well as the Russian anthem, was performed by a chorus of children dressed in national costumes. And the flag of the Republic of Korea was raised on the flagpole. The next capital of the Olympic Games will be the city of Pyeongchang.
The most touching moment was the end of the closing ceremony, when the Olympic mascots entered the stadium. Polar Bear, Hare and Snow Leopard were waving their paws, saying hello to the bear that had already flown away from the Olympics of the 1980s, which took place in Moscow. The music from Alexandra Pakhmutova's song sounded so that it really became quiet in the stands. And the polar bear at the end just blew out the Olympic flame with tears in his eyes.
The final chords of the closing ceremony were a farewell song performed by the children's choir and music from the First Tchaikovsky Orchestra. As sad as it is to part, we are not yet saying goodbye to the Fisht stadium and Sochi. After all, very soon, on March 7, the grand opening of the Paralympic Games will take place.
