Biography

Yulia Lipnitskaya was born in 1998 in Yekaterinburg. She was brought up by her mother Daniela, who gave her four-year-old daughter to the Lokomotiv Sports School. Famous athletes Marina Voitsekhovskaya and Elena Levkovets, who became real idols for her, began to train the little skater. Great hopes were pinned on Julia, in connection with which my mother decided to move to Moscow.

In the capital, Julia entered the Sports School # 37, where she began her studies under the guidance of the famous Eteri Tutberidze and Igor Pashkevich. Possessing natural flexibility and stretching, Lipnitskaya quickly mastered the most complex elements, which even adult professionals are not always able to master. In 2009, the young figure skater began performing in the Russian championship and became one of the best. A year later, with almost identical results, the athlete took fourth place.

In 2011, Yulia Lipnitskaya won the Grand Prix in Poland and since then has won exclusively prizes. She won the European and World Championships in Italy and Canada, after which she began intensive preparations for the Sochi Winter Olympics, scheduled for 2014. She again won gold at the European Championships, which was held on the eve of the Olympic Games. Everyone was sure: an already experienced skater would not let the country down by playing for it at the upcoming tournament.

Lipnitskaya justified the hopes placed on her. She brilliantly showed herself in the team event in figure skating in Sochi and brought the team in fact the maximum possible number of points for an absolute victory. Having received a gold medal, Julia became the youngest titled figure skater and just an Olympic champion in Russia. In singles at the Olympics, she was overshadowed by another rising Russian athlete Adelina Sotnikova, and Lipnitskaya became only fifth.

Despite the overwhelming success in 2014, Yulia Lipnitskaya did not spend the following seasons so successfully. She often could not cope with her own anxiety, making annoying mistakes and falls. In 2016, the girl's long-standing back injury worsened, and anorexia, which developed against the background of grueling workouts, also made itself felt. Julia began long-term treatment, and in 2017 her health improved markedly. And yet, the mother of the champion announced to the press about her daughter's decision to finally end her sports career.

Personal life

In 2018, Yulia Lipnitskaya celebrated her 20th anniversary with her mother in her own apartment located in Moscow. This gift to the athlete was made by one of the Russian funds sponsoring young and promising athletes. She continues to lead an active lifestyle and occasionally skates, but does not talk about a possible return to the big sport.

As it became known to the press, some time ago a young man appeared in Yulia's personal life. It was the athlete Moris Kvitelashvili. Recently, they have often been spotted together. In addition, the girl maintains an active friendship with many eminent colleagues in sports, including Evgeni Plushenko and Tatiana Navka. Those, in turn, argue that Lipnitskaya's return to sports is quite likely, since the decision to leave could be caused under the influence of youthful maximalism and general denial.
