The future athlete was born on October 26, 1990 in Cheboksary. From childhood, the girl began to get involved in sports. First, she attended the ski section in her hometown. Even then, the coaches saw Tatyana's great potential and a great desire to give all one hundred percent during the competition.
Over time, the talented skier was noticed by biathlon specialists and offered to change her type of activity. From that moment on, Akimova began to regularly participate in the Russian junior biathlon team. The head coach of the girl was the father of Tatyana's future husband Anatoly Akimov. He put his whole soul into the education of the athlete and often bought her equipment for competitions on his own.
The first success in the Russian national team came to Akimova in 2013, when she took part in the Winter Universiade in Italy. Tatiana won a gold medal in the relay and several times climbed the podium in individual races. It was not immediately possible for the girl to develop such a success.
Akimova began to be involved in training with the main Russian national biathlon team. At the end of 2014, she had the opportunity to perform at the World Cup stage, but due to her low rating, she was not allowed to compete. The full debut had to wait two years. But then Tatiana showed such results that no one could predict in advance.
The start of the 2016/2017 season again failed for the biathlete. At the stages of the World Cup, she took places in the third or fourth ten. But real success came to Tatiana on December 16 in the Czech Republic. The girl won a sensational victory in the sprint race and received a well-deserved gold medal. Then she again climbed the podium and even managed to break into the top ten biathletes of that season. But this was one of the last high-profile successes of the athlete.
After that, Tatyana Akimova no longer showed such worthy results. Many experts expected her to break through at the 2018 Olympics in South Korea. But, unfortunately, the girl could not add any awards to the silver medal of the 2017 World Championship in the mixed relay.
Now Akimova is preparing for the new season as part of the main Russian national team and regularly takes part in summer biathlon competitions. She hopes that this year she will be able to reach her full potential and become a true team leader.
Personal life of Akimova
Tatiana met her future husband a long time ago. It was the son of her head coach Anatoly Akimov - Vyacheslav, who is also a biathlete. The couple got married in 2015. Up to this point, Tatiana's surname was Semyonova. Young people are completely devoted to their sports career and are in no hurry to have a child.
