The same tennis player, in a split second, needs not only to assess the trajectory, strength and speed of the ball, but also to have time to strike back. Wrestlers need to react to touch. They need to both see and feel the actions of the enemy in order to dodge in time and carry out the attacking reception.

Train the speed of a simple reaction to a specific stimulus using multiple repetitions of the same movement, trying to achieve maximum speed with each repetition. You can speed up a simple reaction with a common exercise. Stretch your hand forward with an open palm edge to the floor. The partner should take a ruler 30-40 cm long and hold it with the end down 2 cm above your palm. When he suddenly lets go of the ruler, try to catch it as quickly as possible. At the same time, the forearm remains motionless. The reaction speed is estimated by the distance that the ruler flew.

If you need to develop a complex reaction, choose exercises in which different options for action are possible. The choice of action should depend on the type of external signal. In single combat, it looks like this: with a side kick of the opponent with your hand, you put a block with your hand, and with a lower side kick, you bend your leg at the knee. The opponent, if desired, can inflict both several punches in a row, and several kicks, using various combinations of two movements. Try to combine no more than three options for different actions in one exercise.
