The group stage of the World Youth Hockey Championship in Helsinki is gradually gaining momentum. On December 29, the Russian national hockey team played their third match. The rivals of Valery Bragin's charges were Belarusian hockey players.
The opponents of the Russians started the match more actively, more often they stayed in the defense zone of the Bragin team. This was partly a consequence of the removal of the Russian national team player, which became the first in the meeting. For two minutes of the majority, the goalkeeper of our national team Samsonov managed to defend his goal intact. In the tenth minute of the period, the Russians responded with a goal in their majority. Once again, at the tournament, the Russian youth squad showed their class in the implementation of the excess. It is gratifying that the players of the Russian national team did this, for the second time using the numerical superiority (the author of the goal was Alexander Polunin in the 16th minute). Only at the very end of the period the Belarusians got the right to the majority, but instead of pushing at the Russian goal, they themselves almost conceded a goal after Ivan Provorov went to a rendezvous with the goalkeeper.
At the 47th minute of the meeting, the Belarusian hockey players still managed to throw their puck, which was the only one for them in the match. Alexey Patsenkin pushed a rubber disc over Samsonov's goal line from a patch. However, the last word remained with Valery Bragin's charges. At the 48th minute, the final score was set on the scoreboard by Alexander Polunin, who scored a double in the meeting under review.
The result of the match: the victory of the Russian national team in the class with a score of 4: 1. Now, for the first place in the group, the Russians will have to beat the Slovak national team on December 31st.
