The wooden arrow bow is an ancient and multinational weapon. Hunters still use modern modifications of bows. Models made according to old technologies are used to restore historical events. Adult respectable men are not averse to running through the fields and forests with a sincere childish passion, remembering the bow from the branch, with which they played a long time ago.

Instructions
Step 1
For the handle, prepare a piece of good wood with dimensions of 400-50-30 mm. It should be free of knots, with layers along the long side. Beech, birch, and other hardwoods are suitable. Or find a handy hatchet in a building materials store.
Step 2
The shoulders of the bow are easier to make from lamellae. This material is a flexible veneer, layers of several types of wood run along. Look for it at furniture makers or hardware stores. For the bowstring, nylon threads are suitable, which are sold in the departments for anglers, with a thickness of 0.5 mm.
Step 3
Draw the shape of this part with a pencil on the block for the handle. Saw through the pattern with a saw, jigsaw, or chisel. You can sand the handle later when you fit it to the bow. Make the shelf on the side with which your dominant hand is (left-handed - on the left, right-handed - on the right). Mark the top and bottom of the handle with arrows
Step 4
Calculate the length of the shoulders, it depends on the total length of the bow minus 200 mm per handle, divide the remaining centimeters in half. Do not make a bow less than 120 cm long, as the angle of the bend of the shoulders will be too large and such a product will quickly fail. If you are limited by the length of the lamella part, do it to the maximum
Step 5
Mark the lamella blank as follows: mark 15 mm obliquely at each edge, mark the cutting point. Saw the workpiece in two. With a pencil, draw a smooth transition from 15 mm to 30-35 mm wide. Fold the workpieces one on top of the other, hold them in a vice and bring the plane to a large degree of "uniformity"
Step 6
Make a groove for the bowstring at a distance of 1-3 cm from the narrow end of the shoulder. Drill 50mm and 25mm holes for the handle bolts. Drill holes for 50 mm bolts in the handle. Attach your shoulders to the handle with long bolts, take a rope, make a bowstring out of it, but do not pull it. Your goal is to center your shoulders. Align them so that the rope runs exactly in the middle of the handle. Mark the places for the short bolts on the handle. Remove the shoulders, drill holes for 25 mm fasteners. Collect all the pieces.
Step 7
Take the sandpaper and process all the details so that there are no burrs and irregularities. If you have a burning device, you can make an ornament using Celtic or Russian motifs. But in decoration, complete freedom of creativity is permissible. Saturate the wood with anti-rot products. The varnish does not work well as the bow is not static and the varnish will crack from constant bending.
Step 8
The distance between the bowstring and the handle should be about 20 cm. Pull a nylon rope 3-4 mm thick, make loops on each side and put on the grooves. First, put the loop of the bowstring over one shoulder of the bow, but not in the cut, but beyond. After that, attach the bowstring to the second shoulder, already in the groove provided for this. Place this shoulder on the floor and insert the first loop into the kerf.
