Pilates is a complex exercise system. If this is the first time you hear about it, then it is better to get your first training experience in a fitness club. The trainer will show you mistakes and tell you how to do the exercises correctly.
Before your first workout, you should learn the "Pilates Principles":
- Breath
- Concentration
- Precision and control
- Smoothness
- Relaxation, isolation
- Regularity
- Centre
Correct breathing technique is one of the most important foundations of Pilates. You need to breathe deeply, while inhaling, open your ribs wide and keep the abdominal muscles in tension during inhalation. During the workout, the abdominal muscles should be tense. The press is the main source of energy.
When performing exercises, follow the starting position, the movements must be performed correctly so as not to injure your body. In most exercises, the shoulders are lowered, the shoulder blades must be brought together. When lowering the shoulders, the chest should be pushed forward, while breathing is easier with the chest open.
When performing movements during training, the head should always be straight. There is no need to tilt your head forward or tilt your head back. You can put a tennis ball between your chin and chest, and this will be the most correct position, especially for exercises on all fours or stomach.
When doing the exercises, stretch the spine as much as possible. This will increase the flexibility of the body and the mobility of the spine.
