The five-time world champion asked his fans through his Instagram “story” if he should switch from Formula 1 to motorcycle racing.
In Formula 1, the break continues - at least for the pilots. They are resting after a long season of 21 Grand Prix in order to be ready for the 2019 winter tests in late February and early March.
Some people use these weeks for fun and new experiences, such as reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, who tested the Yamaha YZF-R1 World Superbike at Jerez under the supervision of WSBK riders Michael van der Mark and Alex Lowes.
Everyone at the test praised Lewis for his approach and speed. According to van den Mark, Hamilton's fastest lap was seven seconds worse than World Superbike's record lap time.
Such good results sparked speculation as to whether Hamilton could have succeeded if he switched from four wheels to two. By the way, not only from others, but also from the pilot himself. On Tuesday, on his Instagram page, Hamilton in "stories" posted a message with very simple graphics, but with interesting content.
It was a short phrase on a completely black background: "Mmm … should I leave Formula 1 for motorcycle racing?" At the end of the questions were smiling emoticons. He also provided an opportunity for fans to choose two options - yes or no.
It is clear that this was a provocation or a game to attract fans during the offseason, when there is usually very little news about the F1 World Cup.
