The government is currently planning to make Sochi a world-class winter resort.
Opinion of the President of the Olympic Committee
President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov said that after the end of the 2014 Olympics, Sochi will become a year-round ski resort. According to him, the initial goal of the committee was to create new jobs in Sochi, attract the flow of tourists there and increase the city budget. In preparation for the Sochi Olympics, over 100 kilometers of ski slopes were built. All this will turn the city into a world-class winter resort.
The President of the Olympic Committee notes that despite the high readiness of the facilities for the Olympics, it is necessary to bring the infrastructure to mind in Sochi. Funds for its development will be distributed in such a way that all facilities will serve for many years after the end of the Olympic Games.
The opinion of the head of state
Russian President Vladimir Putin is also inclined to the opinion that Sochi has every chance of becoming one of the best winter resorts in the world. As he explains, this is necessary in order to make the south of Russia and the country itself with a rather cold climate attractive and comfortable not only during the Olympic Games, but also for future years.
The head of state wants Russian citizens to go on vacation not abroad, but to spend vacations in the vicinity of Sochi, since this region is quite good in terms of climatic conditions and from now on is able to provide people with the opportunity for year-round recreation. According to the President, the holding of the Olympic Games will cause a significant inflow of investments into the Sochi economy and will create even more comfortable conditions for recreation and living in the city and its environs.
Even now, even before the start of the Olympics, the sports and cultural facilities built in Sochi are in high demand not only among Russian citizens, but also among guests from other countries. It can be assumed that the objects for the Olympics, especially those located in the mountain cluster, were already built from the very beginning with the aim of creating a single complex for winter recreation and sports events, which would serve for this purpose even after international competitions. At the same time, the authorities assure that all facilities and infrastructure are organized in such a way as not to cause inconvenience to the residents of Sochi in the future.
