The ancient Indian system of physical exercise, namely yoga, has become widely known and popular in Europe since the middle of the last century. These 60 years were enough for medical scientists to obtain reliable results on the positive effect of yoga on the general condition of the body with the help of modern techniques and equipment.
Instructions
Step 1
Yoga is a large number of asana exercises, from which a competent instructor can compose an individual complex for people of any age and physical capabilities, taking into account the state of health. At the same time, the effectiveness of these fairly static exercises does not depend on the complexity of their implementation; even the simplest asana can have a tangible effect on the physical and intellectual state. They all have their own name in Sanskrit.
Step 2
So, for example, regular performance of sarvangasana can even change the chemical and biochemical composition of the blood - to reduce the amount of sugar, the total amount of plasma catecholamines and serum lipids with an increase in the number of whey proteins. The inclusion of chalasana in the daily complex allows not only to reduce the amount of catecholamines in the blood, but also to increase the content of cortisol in its plasma, and 17-ketosteroids and 17-hydroxycorticosteroids in the urine. The effect of these asanas, aimed at accelerating metabolism, by increasing the activity of the adrenal glands, is explained. By the way, a decrease in blood sugar levels is observed in 64% of people performing even standard complexes of these exercises.
Step 3
To assess the effect on the general physical condition of the body, studies were conducted in which two groups of students took part. In the first group, under the guidance of an instructor, every day for 30 minutes, the subjects performed a complex of not very difficult asanas, such as: sarvangasana, matsyasana, halasana, ardha-salabhasana, dhanurasana, etc. In the second group, the students also did physical exercises, but the usual, fortifying ones. After 3 weeks, tests were carried out, the results of which unambiguously testified that in the first group the general "index of physical condition" exceeded the same indicator in the second group by 4.43 points. The test was repeated after 2 weeks, during which there was no yoga class. The index value during this time decreased by 2, 83 points.
Step 4
Yoga has been shown to have a positive effect on brain activity and increase intelligence. For this, mathematical tests were used, which were carried out before and after performing ujayi pranayama in padmasana, as well as before and after yoga practice performed for a month. In both the first and second cases, the performance of the brain increased markedly.
