Our life is full of hustle and bustle, speed and daily tasks. How to maintain mental balance in this rhythm in order to solve life issues without losing your mental strength? How to be calm in communication with others? How to make decisions intelligently and balanced? Where to get the strength to take control of your own life, and not succumb to momentary emotions? Meditation will help us in solving all these pressing issues!
What is the benefit of meditation?
Meditation is a practice that allows us to rest. This is a mandatory characteristic. There are many types of meditation, but if after practice you do not feel a surge of physical or mental strength, then, most likely, you were not engaged in meditation.
Exceptions are when we have just started working on developing the habit of meditation. If we practice for some time, then meditation gives us strength! Moreover, in a matter of minutes, no more than fifteen, we can feel such a surge of strength that we cannot feel even after a long sleep! This is the power of the practice of meditation.
Who benefits from meditation?
Meditation is useful for all those who experience emotions, for those who solve life problems, for those who are engaged in physical practices. In general, meditation is good for everyone.
It is good for all of us to be able to maintain a calm state of mind! We all need to recuperate. And in order for the recovery process to be productive and not take too much time, we need to learn how to meditate.
How much meditation do you need to get results?
As with all yoga practices, harmony is very important! Of course, this also applies to meditation. The important thing to understand here is that in order for us to be comfortable and to get the most out of the practice, we need to develop a habit. In the development and consolidation of a habit, gradualness and regularity are needed. You shouldn't do any sharp gestures.
We start our practice with a few minutes a day, or two or three times a week, as our capabilities allow us. Better a little, but regularly, than three hours once a month. Because if there is a lot of practice, but we rarely practice, the habit will not be fixed, and we, in the end, will abandon what we started altogether.
In a few months, for example, in three, we bring the time of meditation practice to fifteen minutes. This is the time that can be found in the rhythm of modern life. That's not a lot. We sometimes spend much more time on useless things. But this time, on the other hand, is quite enough to get tangible results. The results will be sure, as soon as meditation is firmly in our life.
How to choose a place for meditation?
It should be said right away that it is better to start meditating in the conditions that we have at the given time, rather than to postpone, waiting for the time when the "ideal" conditions will appear. There will never be ideal conditions!
Everything is conditioned by our karma. And our task is to choose "the best of the worst", if this is the case. Still, what factors are important when choosing a location? For beginners, it would be good to start practicing somewhere in nature, in a beautiful place, in a neutral, as they say, territory.
This is important so that nothing distracts us. Our minds tend to cling to and jump from thought to thought. And if we start practicing at home, then we will have thoughts like “we need to make repairs”, “I want to rearrange the furniture”, “it's time to wash the floor,” and others. When we have already gained strength, such thoughts will not be able to knock us off the desired mood. But this is also important to begin with.
It is also good to practice where we will not be disturbed while we are practicing. If this place is on the street, in a park, then there are fewer passers-by, people walking their dogs. If it is at home, then where no one needs anything while you are doing. In general, we try to avoid the influence of external stimuli as much as possible. We choose the best place from what we have.
