Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The best teams will play in twelve stadiums located in eleven cities. At the same time, two stadiums in Moscow will be able to host the competition participants.
Summer 2014 is marked by a unique event that repeats itself once every four years - the World Cup. The forum brings together 32 of the best national teams from different countries to fight for the main title.
As you know, the current championship was organized by Brazil in order to pass the baton to Russia. In 2018, several Russian cities will host the competition participants, fans and ordinary tourists at once. Preparations began two years ago - stadiums are being built, infrastructure is being improved, experience is being adopted from countries where world championships have already been held.
11 cities will host participants of the competition
After it became known that the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia, the Russian Football Union decided to determine 11 cities that will host the competitors.
Naturally, Moscow and St. Petersburg immediately got into the top 11, as they have stadiums, developed infrastructure, and the ability to host several hundred thousand guests.
The other nine applicants were selected taking into account many factors. The main attention was paid to climatic conditions, the presence of the stadium, football past. As a result, the choice fell on the following cities: Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Sochi, Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg.
The three remaining cities were chosen for another month, since there were several equivalent options. As a result of the debate and debate, the choice fell on Kaliningrad, Volgograd and Saransk. As it turned out, cities such as Krasnodar and Yaroslavl were left without the cherished "ticket". It's strange, because in the same Krasnodar there are two teams that play in the Premier League, the city itself is very attractive in all respects.
Construction is a burden for ordinary citizens
Currently, most of the work is underway on the construction of stadiums. This leads to a reallocation of budgetary funds, so areas such as health, culture and education do not receive additional subsidies. This leads to irritation among the people.
If you believe the calculations of analysts, then if the money that will be spent on the organization of the World Cup, sent to the construction, you can rebuild three and a half cities of Volgograd!
By the way, in every city, except Moscow, the games will be held at the same stadium. In the capital, the national teams will be able to play at Luzhniki and Spartak. Whether the Russian team will at least be able to leave the group is a big question, since the performance in Brazil showed a low level of preparedness of the players who are not able to outplay the very weak South Koreans and Algerians.
