Step 1
Organize a committee of volunteers who are interested in hosting a sporting event. Of course, it all depends on the specifics of the event, since most of them are hosted by local sports federations. If they are not there, then in any case you will need assistants who have organizational skills and have good contacts with sports clubs.
Step 2
Select a date for the event. Make sure it will not interfere with other competition schedules and athletes' training. Also, take care in advance of the sports equipment that you will need to organize the event.
Step 3
Make a to-do list. Once you have set the start date, now you need to make a schedule for all days and weeks before the official opening. For example, a week before the event, you will have tasks such as preparing prizes (cups, medals, certificates), creating advertising posters (booklets), application lists, etc. And a month before the start, you will need to take care of advertising the upcoming event and inviting the panel of judges.
Step 4
Decide how many teams and athletes will participate in the competition. These numbers will affect the number of volunteers who can serve the event. And also the budget of the event will depend on this. In some cases, it is advisable to charge a small entry fee from athletes or teams. This is a fairly common practice for our clubs.
Step 5
Run an advertising campaign. The local sports organization is usually part of the regional and federal. These two higher authorities can advertise your event through their resources. It is important for them only to show its importance for the development of sports. Hand out flyers in public places, create banner ads, and negotiate PR assistance with coaches and team managers.
Step 6
Prepare the venue for the competition. Order all the necessary equipment and make the area ready a few days before the start. Take special care of the integrity of the prizes and souvenirs. Invite officials (judges and guests) to the competition in advance. Make sure teams and athletes get everything they need for the event. Host your sporting event according to a pre-planned plan.
