Damaged plastic skis - Scratches, gouges, delamination, bubbles and dents are easy to repair. One or two scratches do not interfere with normal sliding, friction from them does not affect your speed. It is much worse if the ski surface is poorly looped or burned. Improper repairs can do more damage to your inventory than a few scratches.
It is necessary
- - epoxy resin;
- - burner;
- - repair pencil R-tech;
- - acute cycle;
- - sandpaper.
Instructions
Step 1
If the mount on the plastic ski comes off completely, dry the holes that appear. Fill the small holes with epoxy using a match or toothpick. Without waiting for the product to dry, screw the mount into place with a self-tapping screw. Do not over-tighten the screw or damage the core and top layer of the ski. The epoxy must dry.
Step 2
Fill large holes in the place of the torn-out fastener with glue and insert plugs (wood chips, small metal shavings, and the like). Let the whole thing harden well and screw the mount with a screw. The attachment point can be moved a lot if the hole is too large. But in this case, the holes must be repaired.
Step 3
Deep and wide scratches or gouges need to be repaired. But it is not worth starting repairs if there is grease on the surface. Clean the damaged area thoroughly. Wipe the surface with a dishwasher and wipe dry. Sand the scratch with medium-grit sandpaper, this will raise the nap, which will facilitate the adhesion of the repair plastic to the defective surface.
Step 4
The recess can be repaired with slow-curing epoxy. Take one that is designed for metal parts, it grips well and is processed with a locksmith tool. Walk a blowtorch over the area to be repaired, the fire will slightly oxidize the plastic, in this form it will better grab onto the resin. Apply epoxy to the damage and let it harden for about a day.
Step 5
There are special repair sticks R-tech for plastic. Find the one that matches your ski color. Use the sticks that are used in repair shops, they contain the best type of polyethylene. The area will also have to be heated with a hairdryer or a burner, do this very carefully so as not to burn the sliding surface.
Step 6
Heat the stick-candle with a burner. Keep the fire close to the sliding surface, the repair candle will drain onto the scratch. When the patch has hardened, remove the excess with a sharp cycle with light strokes.
Step 7
If possible, buy a special gun for repairing the sliding surface of skis. It perfectly pushes P-tech inside the damage, provides an excellent connection of materials during repairs.
Step 8
Sand the small scratches with fine sandpaper and loop over the area. Cut off burrs on the side surface with a knife.
