Instructions

Step 1

The board is 8 cells long and the same wide. Horizontal sides are signed with Latin letters from a to h from left to right. These are the vertical rows along which the pieces will move. There are also horizontal rows. They are designated by numbers from 1 to 8 from bottom to top. Crossing, the rows create fields: black and white squares. Each field is identified by a combination of a letter and a number. During the game, the board is placed so that the near right corner field is white. For white pieces this is h1, and for black a8.

Step 2

Each player has one set of pieces in black or white. The set includes: king, queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. White pieces occupy the first and second horizontal rows, black - the seventh and eighth. The main figures are located on the extreme horizontals.

Step 3

The order of placing the black pieces is as follows:

rook - on a8 and h8, knight - on b8 and g8, bishop - on c8 and f8, the queen is on d8, the king is on e8.

Black pawns occupy the entire seventh horizontal line.

Step 4

As for the white pieces, they should be in the following order:

rook - on a1 and h1, knight - on b1 and g1, the bishop - on c1 and f1, the queen is on d1, the king is on e1.

White pawns are placed on the second rank.
