Synchronized swimming is the most elegant and "female" sport, and, in the literal sense, only girls participate in the competition, although some male enthusiasts also try themselves in such a difficult business. The synchronized swimming school has been going on for almost a hundred years, and in recent years Russia has stubbornly held the leadership in it.

How do girls manage to perform complex figures in the water and so control their bodies? Like figure skating, synchronized swimming involves choreographic performances in an environment that is unusual for ordinary dancers - in this case, in the water. There are many figures in synchronized swimming, most of them are performed in an upright position, often upside down. To constantly keep upright, the girl performs quick eight-figure movements with her hands at hip level.

For another basic figure - rotations - the athlete makes circular movements with her hands in one direction, opposite to the direction of rotation. One hand goes in the front in the right direction, and the other - in the same direction, but behind the body.

A striking difference between the movements of the hands in ordinary sports and synchronized swimming is that, in addition to the usual "spatula" position, the fingers can be clenched into a fist or widely spaced. This is how the rowing movements are performed.

Leg movements play a huge role in synchronized swimming - and not only aesthetic one. Legs help hold the body in position and move in the water. A lot of time is devoted to stretching ligaments, training leg muscles, developing joint mobility - all this helps to use the legs to the maximum during performances. There are only three basic leg positions - both straight, one bent and both bent.

To act synchronously, athletes first memorize the order of movements on land. Since each of them has perfected movements and brought to automatism, in the water they can repeat them exactly. The sense of rhythm also plays a role - despite the fact that the girl spends a lot of time under water, they perfectly hear the music and catch the rhythm.

So that water does not get into the nose and the athletes do not choke, special clothespins are put on the nose - they do not press too hard on the nose, but they do not give water a way.
