The official closing of the XXX Summer Olympic Games will take place on 12 August at the Olympic Stadium in London with a capacity of 80,000 spectators. The ceremony, dubbed A Symphony of British Music, will begin at 7:30 pm local time and will take about two and a half hours.
The organizers have invited the best British pop and rock artists to take part in the show. It is known that the ceremony will feature compositions of such groups as Queen, Take That, The Who, Pet Shop Boys, Kaiser Chiefs, Elbow, One Direction. In addition, the Muse group is among the possible participants in the closing of the Olympics. It was their song Survival that was chosen as the official anthem of the XXX Summer Olympics.
Another pleasant surprise will be the performance of the most popular girl group in the history of pop music, the Spice Girls. Her former members will reunite to perform their most famous hits, including Wannabe and If You Can Dance at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.
In addition to the musical performance, the organizers are preparing a show of the collections of famous British fashion designers Vivienne Westwood, Sarah Burton and Stella McCartney. Outfits will be presented by equally famous models: Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Stella Tennant, Lily Donaldson, Lily Cole and Georgia May Jagger. Girls will walk on an impromptu runway to the hits of David Bowie Rebel Rebel and Fashion.
The program of the closing ceremony will also include such traditional components as a general parade of athletes and the extinguishing of the Olympic flame. During the procession of athletes on the screens installed in the center of the stadium, spectators will be able to see the best moments of the completed sports competition. According to some reports, the extinguishing of the Olympic flame will be accompanied by a performance by one of the most famous English ballerinas, Darcy Bussell.
As usual, the flags of three countries will be hoisted at the closing ceremony: the ancestor of the Olympic Games in Greece, the host of the 2012 Olympics in Great Britain and the host country of the next Summer (XXXI) Olympic Games in Brazil. After the official speeches, the 2012 Olympics will be declared closed. At the end of the ceremony, the city of Rio de Janeiro, which will be represented by the Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, will take over the Olympic baton.
