A mountain bike is a vehicle that is capable of tackling difficult trails, uphill, downhill and off-road terrain. A mountain bike is often called a mountain bike, which in English means "mountain conqueror".

Mountain bike features

Since this vehicle is operated in conditions other than simple driving on the highway, it must have its own specific design features. In particular, the frame of such a bicycle has special strength, as well as shock absorbers on the front and rear wheels. In addition, the bottom bracket of the mountain bike is almost flush with the hubs of the wheelset. Due to this arrangement, the clearance of this type of bike increases, and this has a positive effect on its characteristics. Mountain bike wheels have special tires with larger than standard widths and special tread patterns that help increase traction on the road surface.

The mountain bike has several speed options, with the lower reference point providing maximum rear wheel torque. It is due to this feature that you can easily overcome steep climbs.

Types of mountain bikes

According to their design features, mountain bikes are divided into two groups: hardtails and full suspensions. The first type does not have a rear wheel damping system. Such a "hard tail" allows you to make both ordinary walks on terrain with difficult terrain, and to go in for sports - trial, slalom, country and bike cross, street and so on. In addition, hardtails have a lightweight aluminum alloy frame, sturdy 26-inch and 29-inch wheels, mud tread rubber, rim or disc brakes, a narrow sports saddle, and no fenders or front shock. Some models have a special suspension fork.

The double suspension is equipped with both shock absorbers. This greatly improves the handling of the bike, allowing the rider not to be distracted by jolts while driving. Two-suspension, in turn, differ in belonging to a particular sport. For example, short-travel double suspensions allow you to participate in cross-country races, where the main thing is speed and ease of overcoming descents and ascents. Trail bikes are stronger than XC but lighter than freeride bikes. They easily move over small stones and drops, overcome singtracks and blinkers.

Freeride bibs are designed for aggressive riding. With their help, you can perform various tricks in the air. The heavy version of these two suspensions is designed for jumping down the slopes and other dangerous adventures. Downhill bikes are the most powerful and heaviest mountain bikes, ready for any challenge.
