A muscle stimulator is a device that acts on muscles using an electric current. The device consists of electrodes, directly attached to the body, and the power supply itself, on which the control panel is located, where the intensity and time of exposure to the current are set. There are also simpler stimulants, but they are intended for home use and for cosmetic purposes for body shaping or skin tightening.
The device's impulses are very similar to those of the human nervous system. The electrodes of the device apply an electrical impulse to the muscle, under the influence of this, it begins to contract.
Initially, electrostimulators were devices that transmit electrical current. Then they began to be used in medicine to influence muscles, they began to be called myostimulants. Physiotherapy has become their area of application. They began to be used as a passive exercise and muscle development in bedridden patients in order to accelerate their rehabilitation. Later, the same technique was used to accelerate recovery from injuries, for example, after complex fractures to develop a limb. Even the same impulses can act on some internal organs in order to treat various diseases.
Myostimulation imitates nerve impulses, and they are muscle contractions, therefore, physical activity is imitated. Also, the current can have a beneficial effect for tightening sagging skin or for the treatment of cellulite. This was the starting point for the use of stimulation in cosmetology. Unfortunately, it is impossible to completely replace exercises in the gym for body shaping with "artificial" workouts, as advertisements often say, but it can be a great addition to your own work.

When using myostimulators at home, it is better to consult with a specialist and choose the right device, since there is a very large selection on the world market now, but not all goods are of high quality, although all of them cost a lot of money.
Contraindications
The first contraindication is pregnancy, since electrical impulses improve muscle contraction and blood circulation, which can cause premature birth or miscarriage. Therefore, you should not risk the health and life of the baby. It is also unacceptable to use a myostimulator simultaneously with a pacemaker, this can lead to interference in the work or stop of the latter.
