Russian athletes were able to take two medals at once in the short track, this was a real triumph for the national team.
February 15 became one of the most successful days for the Russian team at the Sochi Olympics. Particularly pleased were Victor An and Vladimir Grigoriev, who with dignity won gold and silver medals, respectively, in the short track.
This sport turned out to be the most successful for the Russian national team, because it was in it that the athletes have already collected a full set of medals. This is a great merit of Victor Ana, since he is already bringing the second medal into the collection of the national team. Victor and Vladimir in the final race ran as leaders, periodically replacing each other and did not let other rivals pass ahead of themselves, thereby securing the first two places.
Interestingly, the short track team playing for Russia is international. Indeed, in the past, Victor An played for the Korean national team and showed decent results (three Olympic awards of the highest dignity). But later, the athlete was seriously injured and had to recover, but he did not manage to return to his national team, so he decided to try his hand at Russia.
Vladimir Grigoriev, who won silver at the Iceberg skating rink in Sochi, also previously played for another country - Ukraine. However, the athlete wanted to improve his performance and began training in Russia in order to achieve higher places in international competitions. The head coach of the short track team is the Frenchman Sebastian Croes. Such an international tandem turned out to be quite successful.
