It is necessary

  • - complete absence of fear of falling;
  • - a little knowledge of snowboarding styles.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you must decide on the riding style, because for each style, special models of boards have been developed with their own characteristics (material, length, structure). There are two main styles for beginners - freestyle and freeride. If you plan on doing various jumping tricks, then you need a freestyle board. If tricks are still out of your reach, then choose a board for free descent - freeride. If you have not yet decided on the style, then it is better to take a board suitable for both freestyle and freeride. Ask a consultant in a sports store, he should help you with the choice.

Step 2

Next, you need to choose the length of the snowboard that suits you. A shortened board will help you to perform tricks. But it is not suitable for riding at high speeds. The long board will help you achieve tremendous speed when descending the mountain. Usually, for this, a snowboard is chosen that is equal in height to your height (- 5 cm).

Step 3

Choose a board strictly according to your body weight. There are weight classes for each board, so to avoid injury and the cost of purchasing a new board, do not neglect this rule. You can familiarize yourself with the weight categories of all boards in any specialized sports stores that offer snowboards.

Step 4

Now decide on the width of the board. The width is selected in accordance with the size of the leg. To do this, place your foot across the width of the board. If there is at least 2-3 cm left to the edge of the snowboard, then the snowboard is selected correctly. Otherwise, if your foot protrudes over the edge of the board, in winter you will hit the snow with your feet, which can lead to an unstable state and a fall. When the snowboard is selected, you can safely go to the mountains for the first descent.
