Instructions

Step 1

The main thing is to choose the right skis for stiffness and height. The technical characteristics of skis include torsional stiffness, ski radius, deflection stiffness and size. The appropriate size and radius will help beginners learn the basics of skiing. Too hard skis usually do not forgive mistakes, but only increase the risk of injury. Their length should be five to ten centimeters higher than your height (you can be slightly smaller, but it is no longer recommended to take skis). The width of the skis plays an equally important role: the wider it is, the more stable it will behave in the thickness of the snow. The narrower the skis, the more confident you will feel on icy trails and hard slopes.

Step 2

Along with skiing, purchase bindings, choosing a good company and color. The reliability of the fasteners depends entirely on the stiffness of the spring in them. Select the hardness scale according to your own weight. Do not skimp on bindings, they should unfasten the skis in time during a fall (so as not to injure your legs) and withstand the load at high speeds.

Step 3

The next necessary element of alpine skiing is poles, they must be selected in accordance with your height. So, stand up to your full height and take your ski poles in your hands, lean on them. If the elbow joint is bent at an angle of ninety degrees, such poles are ideal for their length.

Step 4

In alpine skiing, boots of different rigidity are used. Soft boots are suitable for amateur sports, and hard boots are suitable for professional ones. Don't buy boots casually or on the run. Put on sports shoes and place your foot comfortably, fasten all the clips and sit, jump, walk, just wiggle your toes. Do not chase color for a jumpsuit or jacket, buy only comfortable shoes. The correct size is easy to determine by measuring the foot in width and length (in many stores there are special stands with a scale for this).

Step 5

Take a helmet very seriously, because it can save your life in case of an unsuccessful fall. The helmet can be selected in shape and color, the main thing is that it fits snugly and well on the head (it should not dangle, but it should not put pressure on the ears, choose the golden mean). If you already have glasses in your arsenal, then take them with you to select the slurry according to their size and shape. The helmet should be sufficiently ventilated, it is better if it has a special switch for adjusting the air.

Step 6

There are two types of alpine skiing clothing: one-piece overalls or an insulated suit consisting of pants and a jacket. It is advisable to purchase a two-piece suit, it is more functional. The pants can be used for other winter sports, and the jacket can be worn in everyday life, not just on vacation. Do not save money on clothes, it is better to buy a good thing, made of modern materials. The comfort of skiing will depend on this. Modern materials do not get wet or blown out, they are well ventilated from the inside, which means you will not freeze and sweat.
