Posture is the usual body position of a person who is standing or calmly moving. The correct natural posture is not just part of the image of an attractive person. Being important for the normal functioning of the body, good posture serves as an indicator of the condition of the entire musculoskeletal system.
Instructions
Step 1
Wall test.
To check your posture, find a flat wall with no baseboard on the floor. Take off your shoes, remain in thin clothing that allows you to feel the contours of your body, and stand with your back against the wall. If you are standing straight, you should only be touching the wall with four points: the back of your head, shoulder blades, buttocks, and heels. When doing this self-test, it is important to stand as you would normally, without bending or over-stretching your back. After all, it is important to evaluate not how you can straighten up, but the correctness of your usual posture.
Step 2
Body symmetry.
Other criteria for correct posture is the symmetry of the location of the left and right sides of the body. You can do this test yourself in front of a mirror, or even better ask someone to look at you from the side. The shoulders and shoulder blades should be in a line parallel to the floor. The clavicles, with correct posture, form an almost horizontal line. The buttocks and pelvic wings should also be at the same level. Correct posture is characterized by the same length of legs and an even position of the feet.
Step 3
Exact calculation.
The so-called shoulder index helps to check the correctness of the natural position of the body. Calculate the ratio of the length of the shoulders along the chest line to the length of the shoulders along the back line. If the shoulder arch (shoulders on the back) is taken as 100%, then the length of the shoulders along the chest should be 90-100%. You can also measure the distance from the seventh vertebra (it protrudes most strongly at the base of the neck) to the right, and then to the left shoulder blade. If the numbers are the same, you have no problem with your body position.
