There is very little time left before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Finally, all 32 teams have been determined and have confidently passed the selection in their regions.
The teams that qualified for the FIFA World Cup will now be awaiting the draw to be held in Russia on 1 December.
The list of participants for the 2018 FIFA World Cup:
Europe: Russia, France, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Switzerland, Serbia, Poland, England, Spain, Belgium, Iceland, Croatia, Denmark.
In general, the qualifying matches in this zone were calm. Still, it didn’t work without surprises. The biggest disappointment concerned the national teams of Italy and Holland. Both teams lost their place to the Swedes: the Dutch lost to them in the group, and the Italians in the play-offs. Even Russian fans were upset because such players as Buffon, Chielini, Bonucci, Promes and others would not participate in the tournament. Well, the main surprise with the "+" sign was the exit from the group from the first place of the Icelandic team. They had a fairly strong and even group, but the team secured a direct ticket for themselves.
South America: Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Peru.
The Brazilians showed very confident play in this zone. They suffered only one defeat and deservedly took first place. But the Argentine national team made it to the World Championship in the very last round. They did not play very well throughout the tournament, and Lionel Messi rarely looked like himself. But at the last moment, the Argentines gathered and won the ticket. In this region, the main disappointment was the Chile national team, which could not make it to the tournament. The Peru national team has not participated in such matches for a very long time, and was the last to get a ticket to Russia.
Asia: Iran, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Australia.
There were no surprises among the Asian participants. All the national teams that entered the World Championship regularly participate in these tournaments. The national team of Uzbekistan cannot make it to their number in any way. She always starts the selection well, but ends up somehow.
Africa: Tunisia, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt.
Among the tournament participants from Africa, there was no place for the national teams of Cameroon, Cote Divoire, Algeria and Ghana - teams that are among the strongest on their continent.
North America: Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama.
Here, too, it was not without sensations. For the first time in many years, the Americans did not make it to the 2018 World Cup. Team USA showed impressive performance, but in the last round unexpectedly lost to the main outsider Trinidad and Tobago.
It is worth noting the fact that almost half of the participants in the 2017 Confederations Cup will not come to Russia for the World Cup: Cameroon, New Zealand and Chile.
