The tradition of hosting the Olympic Games was revived by Baron Pierre de Coubertin at the end of the 19th century. Since that time, their own customs and traditions of the Olympics have developed, which are different from those that existed in Ancient Greece.

Instructions

Step 1

The organization of the Olympic Games begins with the choice of the city in which they will be held. The leaderships of countries and cities wishing to host the Olympics develop individual projects, which they present to the Olympic Committee. Each project should show the advantages of holding sports competitions in a specific location and the degree of infrastructure development. Since the host city of the Olympics is selected several years before the proposed action, not only the current state of the city is assessed, but also plans for the construction of Olympic facilities, as well as the general idea of organizing the opening and closing of the Olympic Games. Naturally, political aspects are also taken into account. For example, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will most likely refuse to hold competitions in a country in which the situation is unstable.

Step 2

Approximately one year before the Olympics, the selection of participants in all sports represented in the competition begins. Typically, quotas for the number of participants in each discipline are allocated to national teams depending on their success in qualifying competitions. Athletes have very strict requirements. One of the main conditions for participation in the games is the amateur status of an athlete. He cannot make money from his performances, but should be limited only to the prize money received in the competition.

Step 3

Even before the start of the Games in the city of Olympia in Greece, during a special ceremony, the Olympic flame is lit, which is carried by the relay to the city of the Games. During the opening ceremony, which turns into a spectacular show, a large torch is lit from the Olympic flame in the main stadium.

Step 4

After the opening of the games, various sports competitions last for two weeks. Viewers can attend all of them or choose those sports that are more interesting to them. The winners are awarded gold, silver or bronze Olympic medals. During the award ceremony, the flags of the countries for which the athletes are performing are raised, and the national anthem for the gold medalist is performed. The games end with a solemn closing ceremony.
