From 7 to 16 March 2014, after the end of the 2014 Winter Olympics, the XI Paralympic Games will be held in Sochi. Paralympic athletes show by their own example that a person can always argue with a cruel fate and overcome any obstacles. What will be included in the program of the Paralympic Games in Sochi
Athletes from 45 countries will take part in the Paralympic Winter Games, who will compete for 72 sets of medals. Competitions will be held in biathlon, alpine skiing, hockey, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and curling.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games will be held. The mascots of these competitions were chosen Ray and Snowflake - fantastic creatures who came from other worlds to help people use the hidden reserves of the human body.
Where will paralympic athletes live in Sochi
All conditions have been created for people with disabilities on the territory of the Olympic Village in Sochi. Gentle ramps leading to the entrance to the hotel buildings, elevators of increased capacity, apartments with spacious low baths with handrails - all this, and much more will make the participants of the Paralympic Games feel comfortable and comfortable. The total number of such apartments is about 570.
It should be noted that not only in the Olympic Village, but in the entire city, a lot has been done to make it more convenient for the disabled. Underpasses, as well as the entrances to many buildings, now have ramps.
Numerous volunteers who have been trained in special courses will help the participants of the Paralympic Games. These people will accompany the athletes throughout the games, help in everyday life.
It should be noted that the Russian Paralympic team performed brilliantly at the 2010 Olympics in the Canadian city of Vancouver. She confidently took the first team place, having won only 38 medals: 12 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze.
