You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a barbell at home. You can make it yourself from scrap materials. The components for a homemade barbell are simple and affordable!

What to make a neck from

First of all, you need to decide what the bar itself will be made of. It should definitely be a very durable material. Either an iron object or a wooden one will serve as the neck. In addition, the bar should not be less than 4cm in diameter, otherwise the grip will be painful.

It is much easier to decide on a wooden object, and it will not add as much additional weight to the projectile as an iron one. An old mop from your closet or a rake from a barn is ideal. If their stalk seems too long for you, don't worry - this space will come in handy in the future. On it you will string impromptu "pancakes". It remains to separate the stalk in any suitable way.

Finding an iron sibling for a homemade barbell is not easy, but you may want just such a bar for some reason. For example, if you plan to work with a weight of more than 50 kg. Then go to the construction market and buy an all-metal rod there. Its length should be approximately 2 m and its cross-sectional diameter should be approximately 35 mm. You can also take a pipe with a diameter of about 4 cm, but it is not good for a lot of weight.

What to make "pancakes"

The easiest way to load our neck is with plastic bottles. They need to be filled with something heavy. Sand, small stones, cement, even plain water will do. You can take 1, 5 liter bottles, you can 2 liter. It all depends on your aspirations, how much weight you need. The weight of one such bottle can reach 4 kg. Simply place them around the ends of the neck and wrap tightly with tape.

Another option is to make "pancakes" from cement. To do this, you will have to tinker a little, and the weight of such a burden can be predicted very approximately. Find a suitable shape, such as a large paint can. Pour cement there, place the neck of your future barbell and wait for it to completely harden. Complete solidification will occur at least in a day, but it is better to wait four. Only then can you start making the second "pancake". When it dries, support the entire structure securely.

If there is no cement at hand, use all your imagination. Take a look at the warehouse and garage. Use old car tires, car engine parts, cans filled with scrap iron. Anything, just remember that this is not the most convenient option. It is best to turn to cement - it is such a homemade bar that will allow you to fully engage in sports!
