Step 1
First, make sure you really want a bike. Borrow a bike from someone you know and try it for a couple of days. And only then go to choose a bike.

Decide exactly where you will cycle. It depends on which bike to choose. Two-wheeled "horses" are divided into: tourist, road and pleasure (wide tires, smooth tires, 5-6 speeds); cross-country, or bicycles for difficult conditions (narrow tires, rubber with spikes, front shock absorber, up to 18 speeds); mountain (with front and rear shock absorbers, powerful frame, raised carriage, wide straight steering wheel, from 20 speeds). Don't buy a mountain bike for city walks!

Equipment when choosing a bike - you will need a lot of small, but necessary parts. Ammunition - backpacks, windbreakers, tights and sneakers - can be bought almost everywhere. But bicycle helmets will have to look. Also choose glasses and gloves for your bike. The repair kit and small first aid kit will not damage. You may have to spend money on a bell, fenders, a footrest, lights, a pump, a child seat, a trunk, etc. How expensive the attachments for a bicycle will be depends on how obedient, reliable and fast your two-wheeled friend will be.

Care. For a season, it is necessary to completely disassemble and lubricate once or twice. You can do it yourself, or you can trust the specialists. If you drive every day, the wheel chain needs to be cleaned and lubricated once a week. If caught in the rain, then you will have to do the cleaning and lubrication of the chain after riding. Once the chain is shiny, wipe it clean and let it dry. Then lubricate the dry chain with a syringe or special oiler, dropping one drop of oil into each chain link. For better distribution, pedal for about a minute and leave the bike for 4-5 hours. It remains to thoroughly wipe the chain with a dry cloth.
Step 5
To protect your steel friend from the hijackers, when choosing a bike, immediately buy a special cable lock, and better on a key, not on a code. The safest way is not to leave your bike on the street at all.
