Everyone who is engaged in martial arts, and in particular karate, knows how important regular training is to keep oneself in combat shape. Constant training of karatekas cannot be effective without a special device for practicing strikes - makiwara. You can make a portable workout makiwara that can be used at home, at the gym, and even outdoors with your own hands.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare materials for making a makiwara - an old car tire, a strong long chain (about 2 meters long), a 50 mm bolt. with a ring head, with a nut and washer, as well as a piece of wood 2x15 centimeters, 60 centimeters long. You will also need two self-tapping screws, a piece of thick leather 15x15 centimeters, strong glue or cement, and an S-shaped hook.
Step 2
At the tire, remove the rim and center, leaving a round rubber rim. Lay a block of wood across the hole in the tire and screw it to the rubber with bolts, screwing one bolt at each end of the block.
Step 3
On the inside of the tire, secure the bolts with washers and nuts. You can also fix the timber to the rubber using ordinary self-tapping screws.
Step 4
Near one end of the block of wood that will sit on top of the makiwara, attach a ring-head bolt through the bar. Tighten the nut with washer from the back. Apply a 15 by 15 centimeters cement square to the center of the wood block.
Step 5
You can also use glue instead of cement. Until the surface of the square is dry, glue a square piece of heavy leather or rubber on top. Pass the S-hook through the hole in the ring head of the bolt, and then attach the chain to the free edge of the hook.
Step 6
With the hook, you can change the height of the makiwara by hanging it on any surface.
