The thirtieth 2012 Summer Olympics will be held from 27 July to 12 August in London. At the same time, the capital of Great Britain will become the first city in which they will be held for the third time. In addition to this city, Moscow, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Istanbul, New York, Havana, Leipzig claimed the right to host the games.

According to information published on the official website of the Russian Olympic Committee, most of the sporting events will take place within Greater London. At the same time, the sports facilities will be divided into three parts: the Olympic, river and central zones.

In the Olympic zone there is an Olympic village; basketball and handball arenas; water arena, which will host competitions in all water sports; London bike park, hockey center. The Olympic stadium is located on the same territory, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the games will take place.

The central area at Wembley will host several soccer games, Horse Guards Pared for beach volleyball, Hyde Park for triathlon and Lords Cricket Ground for archery. In addition, the 2012 Summer Olympic Volleyball Champions (Earls Court) will be determined in the central zone. Also through the center there is a cycle road located in Regent's Park.

The river zone covers the Exhibition Center of the capital of Great Britain, where competitions in judo, weightlifting, wrestling, fencing, boxing, etc. will take place. Competitions in all types of gymnastics, basketball and badminton will be held at the O2 Arena (Greenwich North Arena 1) and Greenwich Arena (Greenwich North Arena 2). The Royal Artillery Barracks will host shooting athletes, while Greenwich Park will host all equestrian competitions and some modern pentathlon competitions.

Despite the abundance of ultra-modern sports grounds in London, some types of competitions will also take place outside the British capital. For example, sailing and all kinds of rowing competitions, as well as preliminary football matches, which will be held in five UK cities: Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Cardiff.
