You can get to Sochi to watch the 2014 Winter Olympics by various means of transport, both by air and by land. The choice of the appropriate option should be in accordance with the available budget and the availability of a particular transport in the village.
Traveling by plane
The fastest way to get to Sochi is by plane. You can book air tickets in advance, and then fly to Sochi from Moscow in just 2-2.5 hours. You will arrive at the Sochi airport, from where you can get free public transport to the venue of the Olympics.
Train ride
A fairly budgetary way to get to Sochi is to go there by train. From Moscow or Central Russia, you will reach your destination in 25-40 hours. It should be borne in mind that on the eve of the Olympics, additional trains from various settlements will move southward. You can get to Adler, which is located 35 km from Sochi, or arrive directly at Sochi Central Station.
A huge number of trains and electric trains run from Krasnodar and Tuapse. You can buy a ticket at the box office in your city or book it online. The latter option is the most convenient, since in this case it will be enough to show only a passport to board the train.
Bus ride
Buses run from the cities of the Southern Federal District to Sochi. Please note that the Tuapse-Sochi highway runs along the mountainous terrain and can often be congested, and then the trip will take 3-5 hours longer. The bus station in Sochi is located in the very center, near the railway station at the intersection of Gorky and Roz streets.
Car ride
Traveling by car can be an economical alternative to railways and buses. The disadvantage of this method of travel is its duration, since the journey will take 2-4 days. It will be necessary to make stops for rest and overnight stay. It is worth paying attention to the section of the Krasnodar-Sochi road, on which large traffic jams very often occur. It is better to pass it at night, when the track is not so busy and there are no police patrols on it.
Be careful while driving on a mountain serpentine road, obey all road signs and do not increase your speed unnecessarily. Be sure to take a road atlas with you or install a GPS device in your car so you don't get lost on the road.
