The European Football Championship is held regularly every four years. The time when the games take place becomes an important event for all fans, a real excitement unfolds around the championship. The 2012 European Championship is held in two countries: Poland and Ukraine. Thanks to this, a special composition of judges was formed.
The European Football Championship is judged by 12 chief referees. They have assistants as well as additional assistant referees. The decisions on them are taken by the European Football Union Refereeing Committee. Before choosing, members of the committee carefully analyze the previous work of the applicants.
At the tournament itself, the refereeing team is made up of five people, citizens of one country. This team consists of: the head referee, two assistants at the goal and two assistants on the lines. An additional person from the same country must be identified. In the event of an emergency, he replaces a colleague.
With the permission of the International Council of Football Associations, additional assistant referees will be working as an experiment for the 2012 UEFA European Championship. They will need to be on the endline of the field. In the event of incidents in the penalty area, their task is to help the head referee make the right decision.
The referees entrusted with judging the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship were selected in December 2011. The twelve lucky ones were: Nicola Rizzoli, Carlos Velasco Carballo, Cuneyt Chakyr, Victor Koschoi, Stefan Lannoy, Wolfgang Stark, Jonas Erikson, Bjorn Kuipers, Howard Webb, Damir Skomina, Pedro Thompson and Craig. These arbitrators represent Italy, Spain, Turkey, Hungary, France, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Great Britain, Slovenia, Portugal and Scotland, respectively.
A list of reserve judges has also been prepared. They will be assigned to referee the match as an arbiter or his assistant if someone from the main list is unable to continue their work at the European Championship. The "fourth" judges were Viktor Shvetsov from Ukraine, Tom-Harald Hagen from Norway, Pavel Kralovets from the Czech Republic and Marcin Borski from Poland.
The referees of the 2012 European Championship will start their work on April 30 in Warsaw, where a special referee seminar will be held. 12 teams, four reserve referees and four reserve reserve referees will have to appear on it. On May 2, a special physical fitness test will be held. According to the results of its passage, teams of five people will be formed. From 4 June they will start working in Warsaw for the 2012 European Championships.
