The tournament table is a summary of the results of any competition (championship / championship) in relation to the list of all participants, sorted by a specific criterion (for example, the number of points scored or the number of victories).
Instructions
Step 1
In mathematical terms, the tournament table is a two-dimensional matrix, in which data about the participants in the competition unfolds vertically, and horizontally - a list of indicators that affect the place of each of the participants in the table.
First, you need to identify the participants in the tournament. Then you must define a list of indicators by which you will determine the place of the participant in the standings. Such indicators can be: the total number of rounds, the number of victories, the number of defeats, the number of points scored and other indicators depending on the specific type of competitive activity.
Step 2
Determine the key indicator, and also set the importance of each of the remaining indicators (arrange them in a hierarchical order: from most important to less important). This is necessary in order to determine their position in the table by additional indicators in case of equality in a key indicator for two or more participants.
Step 3
Determine the principle of determining the winner of the tournament according to the standings:
- the maximum amount in terms of the indicator in case of equality of the conducted rounds for all participants;
- the maximum amount by indicator, excluding tours.
Step 4
After each round, enter information about the results of each participant in the competition in the standings, that is, fill in the columns with all the indicated indicators. Then sort the table by key metric and then by additional metrics. Thus, you will receive a standings, in which the leader will be the one who is located above the competitors in the table.
Step 5
After the last round and its results are reflected in the table, determine the winner of the competition. Please note that when drawing up the final tournament table, it is necessary to take into account the principle of determining the winner of the tournament.
If the competition is held according to the Olympic system (for elimination), it makes no sense to draw up a table, because the result will be determined not by a set of indicators, but by the result of a specific confrontation.
