Stunt riding on a motorcycle is an unusually spectacular and relative new sport and a new word derived from the English "stunt" - stunt and "riding" - riding. For many people, it is even a scary and dangerous sport.
This rather young sport appeared in England in the 80s, and Harry Rothl is considered the "father-in-law". It was he who invented the first tricks, many of which have become classics today. The first championship took place in 1990.
The hardest stunts of motorcyclists, amazing possession of "iron horses", courage and fearlessness of athletes conquered the audience once and for all, after which the victorious procession of this sport across America and Europe began.
The very first demonstrative Russian competitions were MotulM1 StuntBattle, which took place in 2008. 13 athletes performed at the Leader stadium near Moscow. It was after him that the IFR decided to create a Startriding Commission, which developed the official rules of the competition and special regulations for the next championships. Alexey Serebryannikov, the main organizer of the MotulM1 competition, became the Chairman of the Commission.
Now every year in St. Petersburg, which is considered to be the homeland of Russian stunt riding, the All-Russian Championship is held. The number of its members and sponsors is growing, not to mention the viewers and fans. Sections are already appearing in small towns, and many competitions are held for amateurs and professionals.
From year to year, the stunts performed by athletes are becoming more difficult and more interesting. It is not at all easy to become an athlete-starter. This requires a good sense of space and speed, excellent coordination and a sense of balance, excellent balance. At the dawn of this sport, simply the ability to drive "wheely" or "stoppy" (on the front wheel) was admired, later there were spins, skids and a lot of new words like "switchback", "handstand", "drift", "whip" and others. Now it has become unacceptable for rentals without tricks on two wheels.
So, "whip", which the skaters could probably call "crossover jump" - a quick, almost instantaneous 180-degree turn, with a separation of the rear wheel, on one front wheel, allowing you to instantly change the direction of movement. But there are masters who make this very "whip" in full swing! And "superman", when an athlete literally takes off over a motorcycle riding on the rear wheel, just holding the steering wheel with his hands! And the "tsunami", when the same jump ends with an almost vertical handstand!
Stunt riding requires from athletes truly hellish patience and regular difficult, dangerous training and mandatory theoretical training. In addition, you need to be well versed in technology and physics. First, you should know the laws of motion, and then feel them for yourself. The main thing is not to fly out of the saddle like from a catapult. Well, it should be noted that stunt riding is a rather expensive sport that requires special equipment for both the motorcycle and the rider. But extremeness, entertainment, strength and fearlessness, crazy drive and energy continue to attract more and more fans.
